Since May, Lang Son has implemented the application of last name cards for 100% of vehicles exempted from road toll collection, preparing for the toll collection not to stop completely.
According to the Department of Construction of Lang Son province, this is to implement the policy of collecting electronic fees without free multi-lane stops (no more barriers) at toll stations, according to Decree 119/2024 of the Government.
The subjects of application include vehicles belonging to police agencies, the army, border guards, health, agriculture, environment, and administrative and public service units.
The affixing of the terminal card will be coordinated between departments and branches with VETC Automatic Toll Collection Company Limited and Vietnam Digital Traffic Joint Stock Company (VDTC). Along with that, the Provincial Motor Vehicle Inspection Center guides the procedures for opening a traffic account, depositing money and pasting VETC and VDTC cards to the vehicle.
The leader of the Department of Construction said that the goal is to ensure that 100% of vehicles exempted from toll collection must have a valid electronic card before traveling through the toll station.
During the implementation process, if any problems arise, the units will report to the Department for synthesis and submission to the Provincial People's Committee for handling.
Attaching free electronic cards to vehicles is an important preparation step before the entire toll collection system in Lang Son operates in a non-stop model, helping to reduce congestion, save time and increase transparency in road toll collection activities.
