HCMC mobilizes people to change their paper driving licenses to PET cards

Nguyên Chân |

Ho Chi Minh City is implementing a peak period of reviewing and cleaning driver's license (GPLX) data in the area.

On November 4, the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police (PC08) said that up to now, more than 70% of driving license data has been cleaned. The police force of wards and communes has mobilized and supported people to convert more than 5,000 paper driving licenses to PET cards. About 2,000 records with inconsistent data are continuing to be verified.

During the implementation process, the commune-level police go to each residential area to collect information, compare records, instruct people to declare samples and supplement necessary documents.

In case the driving license still has data on the system, people will be invited to the local police headquarters to issue a new one immediately. If the data is missing or not matched, the file will be sent to the Traffic Police Department for inspection and verification before issuing a new one.

The Traffic Police Department recommends that people quickly convert their covers to PET cards because they bring many benefits: PET cards are highly secure, difficult to counterfeit; durable, compact; can be integrated on the VNeID application to present when needed.

Once switched to PET card, the issuance, renewal or re-issuance of the driving license can be done online on the Public Service Portal, helping to save time and costs. PET driving licenses are also a necessary condition to be granted an international driving license, convenient for people living, studying or working abroad.

The Traffic Police Department calls on people to coordinate during the peak period so that the conversion can be completed quickly, contributing to ensuring rights and convenience in participating in traffic.
