In Vietnam, there are currently only 2 Chevrolet Corvair Convertibles imported, one white, the other red.
The white one was widely offered for sale for over 1 billion VND and quickly found a new owner.
It is known that the car has just been handed over to a new owner at an undisclosed transaction price.
The exterior of the 1964 Chevrolet Corvair Convertible is white, with a black top and red leather interior. This is a compact car with a rear-mounted engine, air-cooled, produced by Chevrolet from 1960 to 1969.
The car was developed to compete with the Volkswagen Beetle and had several versions in its first (1960–1964) and second (1965–1969) generations, with a total production of around 1.8 million units.
The name "Corvair" first appeared in 1954 as a concept car based on the Chevrolet Corvette with a fastback-style hardtop.
The 1964 Chevrolet Corvair Convertible is a first-generation model, which was also the last year of production before the second generation model was introduced.
In 1964, the engine capacity was increased from 2.4 to 2.7 liters, the base engine power from 80 to 95 horsepower, while the high-performance version from 102 to 110 horsepower. The car's engine still kept the same capacity of 150 horsepower.
The car's suspension has also been improved, with the addition of horizontal leaf springs and softer rear coil springs to reduce roll stiffness and improve neutral handling. The brakes have also been upgraded with finned drums.
Despite significant improvements, Corvair sales dropped by nearly 73,000 units in 1964. The reason was the outdated styling after five years, the lack of a pillarless hardtop, and the V8 engine.
In addition, the introduction of the Ford Mustang in April 1964 had a strong impact on Corvair sales.
