Nghe An out of Top 3 localities buying the most new cars in the country

Trang Quỳnh |

After 3 consecutive years in the Top 3 localities buying the most new cars in the country, 2025 marks the "fall" of Nghe An.

According to information from the Traffic Police Department - Nghe An Provincial Police, in 2025, the whole province registered 17,032 new cars, 74,647 motorbikes and 22,227 electric motorbikes. On average, more than 1,400 cars and over 6,200 motorbikes are put into circulation each month.

Notably, in 2024, Nghe An had 18,064 newly registered cars, ranking 3rd in the country in car purchases, only after Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, an increase of nearly 4,700 cars compared to 2023.

Previously, in 2022 and 2023, Nghe An had 17,786 and 13,377 newly registered cars respectively, ranking first in the country.

According to the explanation of many car dealers in Nghe An, after many years of "breakthrough" in registering new private cars, the car market in Nghe An is also gradually saturated. On the other hand, economic life also makes people more careful.

In 2026, the number of new car registrations in Nghe An is also forecast to increase when recording 4,718 newly registered cars in just the first 2 months of 2026.

Data from the Traffic Police Department shows that by the end of 2025, the number of newly registered cars increased by 27% compared to 2024 with 624,300 vehicles. Of which, 491,394 newly registered vehicles.

The 5 localities with the most new registrations are Ho Chi Minh City: 102,354 vehicles, Hanoi: 88,165 vehicles, Hai Phong: 31,436 vehicles, Bac Ninh: 30,721 vehicles, Phu Tho: 26,930 vehicles.

Thus, Nghe An has gradually been abandoned by other localities in buying new private cars.
