And that is the turning point of the beginning to shape the future of a super city with a new development identity, converging unique values that few places in the country have.
It can be imagined that over the years, since the separation in 1997, Da Nang and Quang Nam have developed as two extended arms of the Central region: one side is a modern coastal city, the other side is a heritage and primitive ecological land.
Now, when the two arms converge and converge, the opportunity does not stop at expanding the space or scale of the economy. What is more expected is the ability to rebuild the development model, from a single industry to integration, from a simple sea direction to a multi-layered urban area including: sea - mountain - forest - river - ancient town.
The new Da Nang is not only a larger city in area and the largest of the 6 centrally-governed cities in the country, but also has many unique identities. It is a place where cultural, ecological, technological and human factors blend together, creating a unique and sustainable attraction.
With world heritages such as Hoi An and My Son, the most diverse ecosystem in the country such as Cu Lao Cham, Son Tra, Song Thanh... and modern infrastructure such as international airports, deep-water ports, high-tech parks, Da Nang after the merger faces a rare opportunity: repositioning itself as a converging city, not only to live and work, but also to feel, explore and preserve value.
However, the new Da Nang is also facing many challenges with the question, how can separate parts not be dissolved, but properly honored, blending into a complex with depth?
And here, every tourism product, every spatial planning, every economic policy... must be associated with the question: Who is Da Nang on the national and international development map?
reality has proven that the identity of an urban area is not born from concrete or growth index. And it originates from the way people identify themselves, from the attachment between residents and the land, from the feeling of belonging to a common space.
With more than 3 million people coming here from Quang Nam and Da Nang, the important thing is not only where they live, but how they live in a new city: whether it is friendly, whether it is fair in policies or not, whether it is worth being proud of?
Therefore, the human factor, especially the management team, is the fulcrum of all expectations. The new Da Nang will have difficulty in gaining urban identity, and will no longer be worth living without a visionary management team to harmonize the new and the old, to connect modernity with tradition, to put development at the center without losing the soul of a land.
That is the basis for the new Da Nang to not only rise higher but also become the most unique, sustainable and livable development model in Vietnam.
