Associate Professor, Doctor Tran Minh Dien - Director of the National Children's Hospital at the "Oppening of the Vietnam NCF Office" event on February 22 said: The National Children's Hospital, established in 1969, is the highest level of pediatric hospitals in Vietnam, playing a leading role in medical examination, treatment and health care for children. Every day, the hospital receives 4,000 - 6,000 children for examination and treatment of inpatients and outpatients.
With the efforts of more than 2,000 medical staff and staff, along with direct leadership and direction from the Vietnamese Government and the Ministry of Health, we have successfully completed the task of taking care of children's health nationwide. In addition, cooperation with international organizations also plays an important role in improving professional qualifications, applying advanced techniques to diagnosis and treatment.
Associate Professor Dien shared: Since 2018, the North American Craniofacial Foundation (NCF) has accompanied the National Children's Hospital, providing treatment opportunities for thousands of Vietnamese children with cleft lip - jaw and hearing problems, especially ear canal culture, helping them recover and integrate with the community.
At the same time, many doctors from the National Children's Hospital have also had the opportunity to receive in-depth training at Chang Gung Hospital (Taiwan, China), improving their professional capacity in areas of cooperation.
During the cooperation process, NCF has sponsored about 600,000 USD (more than 15.3 billion VND) for surgeries of maxillofacial abnormalities, providing treatment facilities for more than 3,500 patients. In addition, the organization also supports valuable medical equipment. In particular, during the COVID-19 pandemic, NCF has sponsored 10,000 N95 masks (worth more than $17,000) to protect the health of the medical community during difficult times.
"The opening of NCF's representative office in Vietnam is an important milestone, opening up many more extensive cooperation opportunities in the future" - Associate Professor Dien said.
In Vietnam, NCF has implemented its first cooperation project with Ho Chi Minh City Dental Hospital since 2014, and continued to expand medical support through cooperation with the National Children's Hospital in 2018.
With nearly 30 years of accompanying Vietnamese healthcare, NCF has sponsored 20 medical staff to participate in training and upskilling at Chang Gung Hospital, including surgeons, dentists, anesthesiologists, speech therapists, nurses and technicians.
