The Department of Food Safety (Ministry of Health) said that it has received a feedback on some celebrities and influential people on social networks advertising food and functional foods showing signs of violations of advertising regulations, especially advertisements that misunderstand the use of products such as cure and false information about product quality.
On the morning of April 15, the Department of Food Safety sent a document to the Department of Television and Electronic Information and the Department of Cultural Culture on the coordination of food advertising management. Through checking information from the press and some videos on social networking platforms, the Food Safety Department found that some celebrities have advertised products in contravention of regulations, causing confusion for consumers about food use and quality.
In order to ensure the law is strictly enforced and preventing wrong advertising acts, the Food Safety Department requires the authorities to coordinate the advertising information inspection on social networks, promptly handle violations of celebrities and notify the results for the Department to summarize.
