On May 14, Dr. Duong Tin Phuc - Director of the Military-Civilian Medical Center of Phu Quy Special Zone - said that the unit has implemented a universal health check program for students in the area. Ngo Quyen High School was selected as the first point in Lam Dong province to implement this program.

Phu Quy Special Zone is located about 56 nautical miles from Phan Thiet port, the travel time by high-speed boat is about 2.5 hours. The long distance from the mainland makes it difficult for people on the island to access in-depth medical services.
Therefore, organizing free health check-ups right on the island is considered a practical solution, helping students to have periodic health monitoring.
According to the Phu Quy Special Military-Civilian Medical Center, the student health examination council was established with 2 examination teams of 24 members. From the afternoon of May 13 to the afternoon of May 14, the teams examined more than 250 students of Ngo Quyen High School.
The examination area is arranged according to a one-way process with physical examination tables, pediatric examination, eye, ear, nose, throat and maxillofacial examination. Students are also screened for common school diseases such as scoliosis, refractive errors and tooth decay.

In addition to clinical examinations, the program also performs blood and urine tests; chest X-rays and abdominal ultrasounds for prescribed cases. For students over 18 years old, the health sector will perform additional in-depth tests at medical centers.
Phu Quy Special Military-Civilian Medical Center aims to ensure 100% of students aged 6 to 18 on the island have general health check-ups.

According to the plan, from May 13 - 28, the unit will examine 5,262 students at 7 schools in the area, including Saturdays and Sundays to ensure progress. After the program for students, the local Health sector will continue to examine policy households in June and deploy universal health check-ups on the island in July and August.
All health check-up results will be digitized, electronic health records will be created and linked with the health insurance appraisal system to serve long-term management and monitoring for people in sea and island areas.
Director of Lam Dong Provincial Department of Health Huynh Thi Phuong Duyen said that in 2026, the province strives to organize examinations for 100% of the population. Of which, about 50% of the population will be completed in the first 6 months of the year.
