Proactively control and prevent epidemics
Faced with erratic weather developments and increasing epidemic risks, the Gia Lai provincial health sector has proactively controlled the epidemic situation, promptly preventing new outbreaks. From the provincial level to the grassroots level, health units have simultaneously deployed many measures to prevent and control epidemics, from propaganda, supervision, vaccination to adequate preparation of medicine, supplies and medical equipment.
Not only focusing on the central area, the health sector also coordinates with local authorities and organizations to strengthen propaganda in remote areas - where living conditions are still difficult. Thereby, helping people raise awareness of maintaining personal hygiene, environmental hygiene, eliminating mosquito breeding grounds, limiting the risk of disease spread.

Thanks to the synchronous implementation of solutions, in the first 9 months of 2025, the whole province recorded and handled 336 dengue fever outbreaks, 10 hand, foot and mouth outbreaks, with 98% of outbreaks handled according to procedures and on time. The total number of dengue fever cases is only over 2,100 cases, down nearly half compared to the same period in 2024; hand, foot and mouth disease has decreased to 540 cases, down from 150 cases. In particular, the whole province has not recorded any cases of malaria in the past 9 months.
fast response teams at the base line are still on duty 24/7. When detecting the case, the health forces of communes and wards coordinated with health centers to quickly investigate, spray chemicals, collect waste, eliminate mosquito breeding grounds, and suppress the epidemic right from the time it first appeared, not allowing it to spread.
The expanded immunization program continues to be maintained effectively. The rate of children under 1 year old fully vaccinated reached nearly 64%; the measles and tetanus vaccination campaign for 7-year-old children reached 92.8%. The health sector has also fully stockpiled insecticide chemicals, medicines, biological products and materials for epidemic prevention and control, ensuring timely supply to grassroots units.
Building a shield against epidemics
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Truyen - Director of the Gia Lai Provincial Center for Disease Control - said that the results achieved are thanks to the strong direction of leaders at all levels, the synchronous participation of the health sector and the people's active awareness of cooperation.

"We will continue to promote the achieved results, strengthen communication to raise public awareness of environmental sanitation, and destroy mosquito larvae and ratton - a dangerous source of disease. Grassroots health care will closely coordinate with authorities, departments, and schools to proactively prevent, control, and control the epidemic," said Mr. Truyen.
According to Mr. Le Quang Hung - Director of the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Health, there are 5 key factors to help epidemic prevention and control work achieve high efficiency: Do a good job of propaganda; proactive and regular monitoring; get fully vaccinated, on schedule; detect early, handle outbreaks promptly; and prepare chemicals, medicine, and materials for epidemic prevention and control.
The synchronous implementation of the above solutions has helped the Gia Lai health sector build a solid shield against the risk of epidemics, aiming to control and repel infectious diseases in the period of 2025-2026.
Mr. Le Quang Hung emphasized that this is not only a professional result, but also demonstrates the sense of responsibility and dedication of the medical team in protecting and caring for people's health, contributing to building the image of a safe, proactive and sustainable Gia Lai in the face of all challenges of epidemics and climate change.
