Breast cancer is currently the most common type of cancer in women in Vietnam. However, if detected early, the disease can be effectively treated, helping patients maintain quality of life and prolong life. In Hai Duong, obstetrics and gynecology examination, consultation and breast cancer screening activities are being regularly deployed by health facilities, contributing positively to the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases.
According to the provincial Center for Disease Control, in just the first few months of 2025, thousands of women have come to the Reproductive Health Care Department for examination. Of which, about 10% have symptoms or damage related to the breast. Many cases of abnormalities such as atherosclerosis, papulopathy, and fibromyalgia are detected early - signs that need to be closely monitored for timely treatment.
Previously, in 2023, the Hai Duong health sector also implemented a screening program for breast cancer and cervical cancer in the localities: Ninh Giang, Tu Ky, Binh Giang, Cam Giang, Thanh Ha and Kinh Mon town. Through examination of more than 15,100 women, the functional sector discovered hundreds of cases with unusual signs in the breast as well as many other gynecological diseases such as amenorrhea,onaryngitis, cervical polyps, etc.
Health experts recommend that women aged 40 and over should take periodic poverty photos to detect early breast damage. For people with high risk factors, screening needs to start earlier. In addition, women should maintain a healthy diet, exercise regularly, control their weight properly and conduct breast check-ups at home every month - especially after menstruation.
In Hai Duong, provincial and district health agencies are continuing to expand communication, consultation, and screening activities to detect breast cancer early - a disease that can be completely controlled if diagnosed promptly. Proactively going to the doctor is not only a practical action to protect one's health but also contributes to reducing the burden of disease for the whole community.
