On the afternoon of April 22, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Kiem Hao - Director of the Hue City Department of Health said that he had just sent a document to medical examination and treatment facilities, pharmaceutical and medical equipment businesses, to strengthen inspection and review of milk products in circulation in the area.
According to the Department of Health, recently, some media outlets have reported the appearance of fake, poor quality milk on the market, related to companies under investigation. Notably, from 2021 to present, the department has not received any product declarations or applications for a food safety certificate from 11 companies on the food safety warning list of the Department of Food Safety.
The leaders of Hue Central Hospital have also requested a review of milk business activities in the hospital premises, requiring the stalls and kiosks to strictly comply with legal regulations.
The Department of Health directs units to strengthen inspection and post-inspection of fake and poor quality food - especially at high-risk establishments such as collective kitchens, schools, and food processing establishments not subject to VSATTP certification.
In addition, the department requires coordination with relevant agencies to review and handle unlicensed health protection foods, unpublished foods, counterfeit goods, and false advertising on social networks and e-commerce platforms.
Along with that, medical facilities must check the prescription of drugs, ensuring that milk and functional foods are not abused in treatment. The introduction, consultation or sale of non-medicine products by medical staff also needs to be strictly controlled.
The Department emphasized that it will strictly handle violations of advertising, exceeding the scope of expertise, and taking advantage of medical names to profit from poor quality products.
