On April 12, a representative of Vinh Bao Hospital said that the unit had sent a report to the Hai Phong Department of Health about the incident in which a mother gave birth by cesarean section at Vinh Bao District General Hospital had to be transferred to a higher level and died later.
According to the report, at 6:46 a.m. on March 5, 2025, pregnant woman L.T.C (born in 1980, residing in Tan Lien, Vinh Bao, Hai Phong City) went to the hospital to complete the procedures to be hospitalized to give birth.
Here, the mother was examined, had an ultrasound, tested, had an electrocardiogram and had to undergo hospitalization procedures. According to the patient's medical record, patient L.T.C had a third labor transfer at 40 weeks, was lethargic, all indicators were at normal levels, safe for the mother and fetus. At the Obstetrics Department, the patient continued to be examined, labor monitoring, fetal heart monitoring, and uterine contractions were monitored.

At 10:25 p.m. the same day, the pregnant woman's cervix was completely opened, the fountain water was white, the bulge on the shoulder joint was unable to pass the head, so the emergency team could not predict to give birth.
After consultation, the hospital's leaders agreed to prescribe: Surgery to remove the fetus. After that, the surgical team gave the patient medicine and performed pre-operative surgery. During the surgery, the pregnant woman was alert, had good contact, had good uterine contractions, and had stable blood vessels and blood pressure.
After that, the mother had a surgery on a baby girl weighing 3.3 kg. However, when the labor was almost finished, the patient's body had redness in the area of the 2 armpits and 2 thighs and spread even though the patient was still conscious. The monitoring screen shows a blood pressure drop of 80 50mmHg, no difficulty breathing, 120 pulse/minute, 99% blood oxygen index and pale pink mucous membranes.
Realizing that the patient showed signs of anaphylaxis, the surgical crew had red alert to the patient's emergency room; At the same time, consult with the Emergency Department and Obstetrics Department of Kien An Hospital. After emergency efforts, the patient's condition was better with blood pressure 90/60. At 22:15 on the same day, Kien An Hospital group was present, supporting the transfer of patients to the higher level for treatment.
At 10:30 p.m., the patient was transferred to the Emergency Department of Kien An Hospital. Here, the mother was diagnosed with coma after emergency cardiopulmonary resuscitation and grade IV anaphylaxis after cesarean section. Accordingly, the emergency team for patients on ventilators controlled, alkaline compensation, blood compensation, IV, etc., closely monitoring their condition.
However, more than 3 hours later (0:45 on March 6, 2025), the patient showed signs of worsening, so Kien An Hospital transferred him to Viet Tiep Hospital. At around 5:00 a.m. on March 6, the patient's family members who were taking care of the newborn baby of the pregnant woman at Vinh Bao Hospital reported that "mother L.T.C had died".
Before the information reflected from the patient's family, the hospital has made the wrong process, the doctors are irresponsible; The incident happened more than 1 month but the family has not received an explanation from the authorities and the hospital.
Talking about the incident, Ms. Lam Thi Huyen - Director of Vinh Bao District General Hospital - affirmed: The hospital has strictly followed the professional process, diagnosed and appointed surgery properly, treated the right regimen, focused on the highest capacity of the hospital, dedicated to the patient. The hospital has no professional errors and the spirit of service attitude. The hospital also reported the incident to Hai Phong Department of Health.
