Regarding the act of saving two children who drowned, Mr. Thong said that at around 3:30 p.m. on April 4, Mr. Thong was working at the station when he discovered two children's bicycles parked for a long time on the dike side of Co Tieu 3 culvert, right in front of the station gate, but could not hear the voices of people. At that time, this area was deserted.
Feeling that things were not good, Mr. Thong immediately walked towards the dike and saw a girl running up, her face was shocked, pointing at 2 friends who were fishing in the water.
At that time, the tidal water was rising above average, about 3 meters from the riverbank with only 2 hands on the banks, gradually sinking. Seeing that, I just had time to throw my phone back on the shore and jump into the river, one hand pushing, the other hand pulling another child to the shore" - Mr. Thong recounted.
According to Mr. Thong, if they had just stopped a little, the children could be in danger of their lives, so when they jumped into the river. Mr. Thong did not think about it, just trying to bring the children to shore as soon as possible. When Mr. Thong brought the two children to shore, a local resident who went to exercise in this area gave him first aid and reassured them. Through investigation, Mr. Thong learned that the two children are P.P.A and N.N.A (born in 2013, students at Doan Xa Secondary School, Kien Thuy District).
Diligence and responsibility in all work
Although the grandchildren later returned home, Mr. Thong still had pain in the health of the two grandchildren when both had struggled for a long time in the river, drinking a lot of water, which could affect health. Therefore, after changing, Mr. Thong asked for permission to go to the village to find a family of two grandchildren, notify the situation for the family to monitor their health as well as instruct their children to play in dangerous deep water areas. Over time, up to now, the health and spirit of the children have been stable, Mr. Thong temporarily rest assured.
On April 10, the Company and Trade Union praised and handed the Certificate of Merit of the Court Workers to Mr. Vu Duy Thong. Mr. Pham Ngoc Thuc - Deputy Head of Co Xiao Water Exploitation Station - said that the action of saving two children is a person of Mr. Thong, without helping people around them. As the head of the Trade Union group of Co Tieu Station, Mr. Thong always cares about his life, observes and listens to share even at work, life, as relatives in the family.
In his professional work, during his 30 years working at Da Do Irrigation Works Exploitation Company, working at many units in the company, including nearly 2 years working at the Co Tieu Irrigation Works Exploitation Station, Mr. Thong is always responsible and diligent.
