On May 7, the Nam Dinh Provincial Department of Health reported to the Nam Dinh Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management - Ministry of Health, about a medical staff member of Nam Dinh General Hospital being assaulted by a patient's family.
According to a quick report from Nam Dinh General Hospital, at 6:32 a.m. on May 4, patient N.V.K (in Xuan Truong district, Nam Dinh province) was transferred from the General Surgery Department to the Intensive Care - Anti-Poisoning Department with the diagnosis: acute pancreatitis - gallstones - gastrointestinal bleeding - cirrhosis - type II diabetes in a state of cardiac arrest.
The hospital's on-duty team quickly performed emergency cardiopulmonary resuscitation and installed an endotracheal tube. After 30 minutes, the patient had a pulse back and was given intensive care and treatment.
At around 7:50 a.m. the same day (May 4), at the Intensive Care - Anti-Poison Department, a young man named N.V.T (33 years old, a relative of patient N.V.K) appeared and cursed and hit the head and face of nurse N.V.H.
After that, the on-duty team reported to the hospital's security guards and invited the police to handle the situation. nurse N.V.H was taken out of the ward, and the team immediately took care of the NVK patient.
Currently, nurse N.V.H is being treated at the hospital's Neurosurgery Department, with a diagnosis of head and facial injuries.
Nam Dinh General Hospital is coordinating with the police to verify and clarify the incident.
