No prescription required to sell drugs
Posing as a patient, the reporter went to P.T Pharmacy in Nghia Thanh Ward (Gia Nghia City, Dak Nong) to buy medicine to treat gout.
After presenting the condition of pain in the leg and taking gout medication a few months ago, the reporter was advised and sold some medications by staff without having to present a prescription.
Pharmacy staff instruct that the drug should be used before eating and has no side effects. They also note that patients should abstain from certain foods to ensure the best effects of the drug.
Continuing the journey, the reporter wanted to buy medicine to treat type 2 diabetes. The staff introduced the Diamicron MR 30 product.
When the reporter asked about the Mixtard 30 injection pen, the pharmacy quoted about 300,000 VND and instructed to contact a doctor for instructions on how to use it.
The reporter continued to go to H.V Pharmacy in Nghia Thanh Ward (Gia Nghia City, Dak Nong). Initially, the employee required a prescription to sell the medicine. However, after the reporter gave the reason, they agreed to sell Diamicron MR 30 for nearly 95,000 VND/tael. According to regulations, these are products that need to be prescribed.

What does the management agency say?
According to current regulations, pharmacies must store prescriptions or electronic prescription data. For addictive drugs and psychopath drugs, there needs to be a periodic reporting process to State management agencies.
Mr. Nguyen Tuy - Head of the Pharmacy Department, Dak Nong Provincial Department of Health - said that the situation of selling prescription drugs without a prescription still exists. This is a difficult problem not only in Dak Nong but also in many other localities.
Mr. Tuy emphasized that selling prescription drugs without a doctor's prescription or not keeping the prescription is wrong. If violations are detected during the inspection process, the authorities will handle the violation.
In the context of an increasingly expanding pharmaceutical market, the situation of fake drugs and poor quality drugs is becoming a serious problem.
When a drug is discovered to be fake, people's anxiety increases, because this is a special commodity that directly affects health.
According to Mr. Tuy, the role and professional ethics of pharmacies, especially the team of drug dealers, are extremely important in this context. In particular, there will be a risk of selling prescription drugs without a prescription.
This can create loopholes in the circulation of fake drugs and poor quality drugs. If the pharmacy and staff do not strictly follow the drug sales process and professional ethics, the possibility of violations is very high.
