At the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Health, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Lien Huong reviewed the historical journey of ups and downs since the first HIV infection was discovered in Vietnam in 1990.
After 35 years of responding to HIV/AIDS, Vietnam has achieved remarkable achievements. The testing, HIV infection prevention and HIV/AIDS treatment program has been implemented synchronously and effectively.
By 2024, the results of implementing Vietnam's target 95-95-95 are 87.3 - 78.9 - 96 (ie 87.3% of infected people know their HIV infection status; 78.9% of people who know their HIV infection status are treated with ARV and 96% of people treated with ARV have viral loads below the suppression threshold.
According to the Deputy Minister of Health, in addition to the team of doctors and nurses, the health sector on the professional front directly caring for and treating HIV/AIDS patients, also has the support of journalists and reporters on the ideological front, changing society's awareness of HIV/AIDS.
Journalists who are committed to their profession have silently, persistently and persistently pushed back prejudices about the disease of the century, linked love and eradicated fear of HIV/AIDS in the community over the past 35 years.
Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Lien Huong expressed her emotion and admiration for the silent sacrifice of the medical team and emphasized: "We hope that journalists will continue to maintain their enthusiastic "fire", exploiting more deeply into new target groups, using modern and multi-platform journalism technology to reach young people. We hope that journalists will continue to write about stories, fates, and lives to arouse compassion and completely eliminate discrimination and discrimination against HIV/AIDS".

The National Press Award on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control was launched more than 3 months ago and has spread strongly, attracting the participation of journalists across the country. The Organizing Committee received more than 1,200 entries, demonstrating the enthusiasm of journalists for HIV/AIDS prevention and control communication work.
This press award not only brings together professional journalists from major press agencies with works that are elaborately invested in and use modern press technology ( Megastory, E-maison, Long-form...); but also has the participation of many "non-professional reporters". They are officials from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) in the highlands, village health workers, collaborators at commune radio stations, etc.
