Son donates father's cornea, brings light to 2 blind people
On March 9, Hanoi Eye Hospital 2 shared a touching story. Mr. Pham Le Tuan Nghia (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) said that his family has just lost a relative to a serious illness. Before passing away, Mr. C.N - Mr. Nghia's father - wished to donate his cornea to help other patients regain their sight.
On the afternoon of March 8, Mr. N gradually became tired, his breathing declined, and his pulse was almost gone. Although they did not want to think about it, Mr. Nghia's whole family clearly understood what would happen next. Suppressing the pain, Mr. Nghia held his phone and calmly called the Tissue Bank of Hanoi Eye Hospital 2.

Ms. Nguyen Tran Thuy Duong - an employee of the Tissue Bank, Hanoi Eye Hospital 2 - said that immediately after receiving the information about a cornea donation, all 100% of the human and material resources of the Tissue Bank were mobilized. When arriving at Noi Bai airport, the airport staff created conditions for the crew to be able to move on time.
A representative of Hanoi Eye Hospital 2 said that after receiving the cornea, it was urgently transferred to Hanoi by air that night. With 2 corneas successfully collected from the 75-year-old man, there will be 2 people who are blind due to cornea disease to regain their sight.
