HCMC focuses on training high-quality medical human resources

At the 70th anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors' Day, Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Nen suggested that the city's health sector focus on human resource training.

On February 25, the City Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors' Day (February 27, 1955 - February 27, 2025) and received the emulation title, a form of State-level commendation from the Ho Chi Minh City Health Sector.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Nen said that since the country stepped up the renovation process, the Ho Chi Minh City Health Sector is one of the sectors that has quickly risen to catch up with the development and integration trend. From an inadequate system, today, the city has built a synchronous, modern health network and become a major health care center in the country.

Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Nen emphasized that the 70th anniversary of Vietnam Doctors' Day is an occasion to be proud of the tragic and glorious tradition but also a time to recognize the great responsibilities ahead.

In Ho Chi Minh City's development strategy for the period 2025 - 2030, one of the particularly important tasks is to mobilize and effectively use resources to protect, care for, improve the health, stature, longevity and quality of life of the city's people; develop a sustainable society on the basis of ensuring progress, social justice, social security and human security.

To implement that strategy, Ho Chi Minh City has been concretizing it into action programs and organizing effective step-by-step implementation.

"From the bone lesson of the COVID-19 pandemic, I suggest that the city's health sector pay great attention to training human resources, especially high-quality human resources in expertise and management; strongly and synchronously implement digital transformation, build smart healthcare and promote administrative reform in the entire health system" - Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen emphasized.

Along with researching and developing specialized facilities and techniques, it is necessary to pay attention to basic hospitals and preventive medical facilities, provide primary health care for the people; proactively respond to all types of epidemics.

Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Nen sent his thanks to generations of doctors and medical staff in the city. At the same time, warmly congratulate the collectives and individuals who are honored to receive noble titles and awards on this meaningful occasion.

Also at the ceremony, 6 individuals were awarded the title of People's Doctor, 95 individuals were awarded the title of Meritorious Doctor.
