No abnormalities detected during ultrasound
In recent days, social networks have been buzzing about the story of the family of Mr. Do Cong Trinh - Ms. Luong Thi Kim Cuc in Bao Thang district, Lao Cai province, whose second son has a disability despite many visits to the doctor and learning that his son is in normal physical condition.

Coming to the family in Gia Phu commune, Bao Thang district, Mr. Do Cong Trinh (37 years old, the child's father) said: "In June 2024, after my wife gave birth and discovered that the child was disabled, I posted on Facebook reflecting this unusual incident. After that, Dr. Nguyen Thi Hang went to Lao Cai Province Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital to ask to remove the article and promised to accompany the family to treat her child's birth defects, so I locked the article.
I also refused to receive 50 million VND in compensation and believe that Dr. Hang will be responsible. But since then, 9 months have passed, Dr. Hang has not asked to visit or help the family but has tried to stay silent".

According to Mr. Trinh, the family did not demand compensation but only wanted Dr. Nguyen Thi Hang to accompany her child during the surgery. However, when they saw that Dr. Hang did not support, his family reopened the post on Facebook and continued to post to clarify the matter.
My wife and I are both healthy, the son who started this year is in second grade and is in good health. During the time of the second child's pregnancy until birth, after 8 ultrasounds at the clinic where Dr. Nguyen Thi Hang was at, all concluded that the fetus was normal," said Mr. Trinh.

Shocked when a child was born with a birth defect
"The first pregnancy, my husband and I had a pregnancy check-up at Dr. Nguyen Thi Hang's clinic. With that confidence, the next time I became a mother, I also went there for a check-up. But now seeing my child like that, I don't know what to do," Ms. Cuc sadly said.

Ms. Cuc said that her child was born with many birth defects such as quadriplegia, no nasal congestion, and an open jaw.
Over the past 9 months, my husband and I have traveled everywhere for examination and consultation of many cases to have treatment plans for our child. Although the success rate is low, we are still persistent until the end, the mother choked up.
According to Ms. Cuc, after posting on social networks and receiving many instructions, the family will soon submit a petition to the Department of Health and the police to clarify the incident.
Regarding this problem, according to Dr. Nguyen Thi Hang - the person who examined Ms. Cuc, usually when using ultrasound, only excess, missing, and crooked cases are detected, and the bones are counted enough, then stop, not even the skin is examined. If there are only abnormalities in the spitals, the pregnancy is not suspended but only repaired after giving birth.
"In terms of expertise, I only see 5 fingers in my hands and don't see them as sticking. This is a really difficult problem to detect and is not expected," said Dr. Hang.

On March 20, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper - Deputy Director of Lao Cai Department of Health Pham Bich Van confirmed the 8-time ultrasound but no fetal abnormalities were detected at a clinic in the city.
According to the Deputy Director of Lao Cai Department of Health, ultrasound also has risks and incorrect probability. The experts checked, but the clinic did not commit any violations. If this family went to an ultrasound facility at another facility, there was a rate where they could not detect it.
"The family has not yet given any opinions to the industry, so we have no written instructions. If they have a petition to the Department of Health, the unit will handle it," said Ms. Pham Bich Van.
