    Two biological sisters in Quang Nam were arrested for loan sharking, charging 18 times the highest interest rate according to State regulations.

    On December 16, the leader of the Department of Investigation Police on Social Order of Quang Nam Provincial Police said that the unit had arrested two biological sisters, Nguyen Luong The Vu (born in 1981) and Nguyen Luong Quoc Thuc (born in 1983), both residing in An Xuan Ward, Tam Ky City, to investigate the act of lending at high interest rates in civil transactions.

    Initial investigation results determined that from August 2024 to present, Nguyen Luong The Vu and Nguyen Luong Quoc Thuc have lent money to more than 30 people in Quang Nam province, with interest rates from 120% - 360%/year (6 - 18 times higher than the highest interest rate according to State regulations), the total loan amount is 2.4 billion VND.

    The Department of Investigation of Social Order Crimes has conducted an emergency search of the residence and made emergency arrests of the two sisters Vu and Thuc, and is continuing to expand the investigation.
