On May 9, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Phuc - Chairman of the People's Committee of Lam Vien ward - Da Lat (Lam Dong) said that the locality had made a record for the unit leasing the ancient villa complex No. 1, 3, 5, 7 Co Giang street due to organizing repairs of the project without being licensed by a competent authority.

According to Mr. Phuc, the ancient villa complex belongs to the group of works of architectural, landscape, historical and cultural value.
This is also one of the familiar attractions for tourists when coming to Da Lat, so architectural and aesthetic values need to be preserved.

“Repair is necessary but must ensure complete legal documents according to regulations. Currently, many items inside the 4 villas have seriously deteriorated such as roofs, walls, and chimneys that are rotten, cracked, and broken. However, before repairing, it must be licensed by functional agencies,” Mr. Phuc said.

The ancient villa complex on Co Giang street is considered to have high value thanks to its ancient beauty, mossy tiled roofs and typical architecture of old Da Lat.
In 2016, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee leased this villa complex to Didama Co., Ltd. for a term of 50 years, from 2016 to 2065 for commercial and service exploitation.

However, after being assigned to exploit, the enterprise only built a campus fence, and many items inside were abandoned for a long time.
By mid-March 2026, Didama Co., Ltd. began dismantling and repairing all 4 villas.
Records at the scene show that many tiled roofs have been dismantled, some damaged components have been replaced; the inside and outside walls of the villas have also been repainted.

Representatives of Didama Co., Ltd. said that because the villas are seriously degraded, the unit has proactively repaired the roof and waterproofing in favorable weather conditions even though it has not been licensed.
According to the business, the company is currently coordinating with specialized agencies of Lam Dong province to complete the application for a repair permit in accordance with regulations.
Over the past time, although the area has been fenced and covered by gates, many tourists still find ways to enter to take souvenir photos. Meanwhile, many construction items have deteriorated, posing a potential safety risk.

In addition, because it is about to enter the rainy season, businesses believe that it is necessary to reinforce damaged items in advance to avoid the risk of collapse.
Regarding the incident, a representative of the leaders of the Lam Dong Provincial Department of Construction said that they had requested Didama Co., Ltd. to stop construction and quickly complete legal procedures before continuing repairs.

The business representative said that they will comply with the requirements of functional agencies, temporarily suspend construction to complete the licensing dossier. At the same time, they committed to maintaining the original architecture of the ancient villas.
In addition, the business also said that it will choose the appropriate paint color and materials to preserve the unique architectural features and inherent beauty of the ancient villa complex in the center of Da Lat.
