On April 16, Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee just requested to urge the implementation of power projects according to Power Plan VIII and adjusted Power Plan VIII.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that, for the Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project, the Department of Agriculture and Environment guide the Tri An Commune People's Committee to remove obstacles in compensation and site clearance, and report to the Provincial People's Committee before April 20, 2026.
Previously, according to a report by the Department of Industry and Trade, in Dong Nai province, there is 1 hydropower project in the adjusted Power Plan VIII, which is the Tri An hydropower project expansion; with an installed capacity of 200 MW (including 2 groups) invested by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN).
Regarding the site clearance situation, the Tri An Hydropower Plant expansion project has 55 cases of land acquisition/total area of 92.09 ha/192 land plots.
Functional agencies have handed over the site and organized construction of about 71.54 ha/92.09 ha, reaching a rate of 77.5%; the remaining area of the project includes 28 land plots with an area of 25.18 ha originating from contracts and is being proposed for handling.
On March 12, 2026, Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee also worked with relevant units on the progress of site clearance for the Tri An Hydropower Plant expansion project.
According to a report by the Electricity Project Management Board 3 (Vietnam Electricity Group), the project implementation process is facing some difficulties and obstacles related to site and materials. Regarding compensation and site clearance, the main construction area currently does not have land for excavating the pressure pipeline section into the plant; the Hieu Liem bridge item has not yet been handed over the construction site at the B abutment and the bridge access road...
The Tri An Hydropower Plant expansion project in Tri An commune is a national key project in the energy sector, which was started in August 2025 and is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2027.
