Nearly 3,000 social housing units in Son La are still targeted on paper

Son La Mr. Le Hong Minh - Vice Chairman of Son La Provincial People's Committee requested to speed up the progress of social housing projects to meet the housing needs of workers and laborers.

The People's Committee of Son La province has just urgently directed the dissemination and implementation of Resolution No. 201/2025/QH15 of the National Assembly and Decree No. 192/2025/ND-CP of the Government on a number of specific mechanisms and policies for social housing development.

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Son La province requires departments, branches and localities to focus on synchronously implementing solutions to speed up the progress of social housing projects, meeting the housing needs of workers and laborers.

The People's Committee of Son La province requested the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province to preside over the coordination of propaganda and dissemination of policies to socio-political organizations, creating consensus and clearly recognizing the meaning and importance of this task.

The Department of Construction shall preside over reviewing and synthesizing data on commercial housing projects with social housing funds, and reporting in detail on the number of apartments, floor area, and implementation progress. The synthesis must be completed before July 15, 2025 to serve as a basis for direction.

The People's Committees of communes and wards urgently review the actual needs of workers and laborers, propose appropriate land fund locations, and send them to the Department of Construction before July 20, 2025. After that, the Department of Construction coordinated with units to announce project information on the Provincial Electronic Information Portal, ensuring publicity and transparency.

At the same time, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to develop a Housing Development Plan for the period 2026-2030, to be completed in the third quarter of 2025, setting specific targets for annual social housing completion targets.

The Provincial People's Committee emphasized that accelerating the progress of social housing is an urgent task, contributing to ensuring social security and improving the lives of workers. Agencies and units must proactively coordinate and promptly handle problems, avoid delays and prolong procedures.

Mr. Pham Tai Anh - Head of the Department of Planning, Architecture and Urban Development (under the Department of Construction) of Son La province said that the People's Committee of Son La province has approved the Housing Development Program of Son La province until 2030, in which the target for social housing development by 2025 is 1,680 apartments with a total construction floor area of about 95,240m2. Of which, the 2026 - 2030 period is 2,991 apartments with a total construction floor area of about 170,140m2.

The People's Committee of Son La province has arranged land funds for social housing development in the area such as, the Lay village area and group 5, Chieng Sinh ward with a scale of 6.54ha and Chieng Ngan commune area (now Chieng Sinh ward), with a scale of about 17.2ha), land funds expected to develop social housing for workers in Mai Son industrial park, about 2.66ha and Van Ho industrial park, about 2.86ha.

"Up to now, there has not been any social housing project implemented in Son La province" - Mr. Anh said.
