From July 1, 2025, Phu Tho ward was established on the basis of merging the entire natural area and population of Hung Vuong ward, Van Lung commune and Ha Loc commune of the old Phu Tho town. The new commune-level administrative unit has an area of over 23km2 and a population of nearly 28,000 people.

According to Mr. Han Duc Manh - a real estate trader in the old Phu Tho town area (CMT Real Estate Company) - real estate prices in all places in the new Phu Tho ward have increased. However, the strongest increase was in the area around Phu Ha Industrial Park.
