In mid-July, according to reporters' records, the construction site of Lang Phung Apatite Ore Preparation Plant (Tam Dinh Lao Cai Apatite Investment Joint Stock Company is the investor) still maintained a state of urgent construction.
Many workers and mechanical equipment are focusing on completing the final items before official operation.
Through investigation, this is a project approved for investment policy by the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee in the period 2018 - 2019, with a total capital of more than 800 billion VND.
The plant is designed with a capacity of 250,000 tons of apatite concentrate per year, with an expected operating time of 16 years.
The goal of the project is to improve the value of mineral resources through deep processing, reduce crude ore exports, and at the same time ensure a stable source of raw materials for the fertilizer and chemical industry and production plants in the province.
However, this factory has been delayed many times due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, broken supply chains of equipment and strong fluctuations in raw material prices.
From 2024, the project was restarted and entered the acceleration phase from the beginning of 2025.
According to Mr. Nguyen Manh Hai - Head of the Project Management Board of Lang Phung Apatite Ore Preparation Plant, to date, the entire project has reached over 95% of the construction volume and equipment installation.
Important items such as the crushing dam house, floating screening area, concentrating system, tail ore filtration tank and water supply system have been basically completed.
The construction unit is checking and technically adjusting before putting the line into trial operation. According to the plan, the factory will officially operate commercially in the third quarter of 2026.
Along with the completion of the project, quality control, labor safety and technical supervision are also carried out strictly to ensure stable operation of the production line.
Currently, there are about 150 workers working continuously to complete the items.
When put into operation, this place is expected to contribute more than 200 billion VND to the budget each year, creating stable jobs for about 150 local workers.
To prepare for the operation phase, the enterprise is implementing on-site vocational training, helping workers master technology lines and meet production requirements.
