The above information was announced by Mr. Nguyen Toan Thang - Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City, at the regular socio-economic meeting in February, which took place on the morning of February 28.
Mr. Nguyen Toan Thang said that Ho Chi Minh City prioritizes auctioning backpacks of land 1-2, 1-3 and 3-5 in advance, with a total starting value of more than VND 5,000 billion according to the current land price list. The auction is expected to take place in the second quarter of 2025.
This land plot is located in the No. 1 and No. 3 functional areas of the Thu Thiem New Urban Area.
Lot 1-2 has an area of nearly 7,900 m2, lot 1-3 is over 5,000 m2, both of which are planned to be multi-functional residential areas.
Meanwhile, lot 3-5 has an area of over 6,400 m2, planned to develop a mixed-use apartment complex combined with commercial services.

According to the plan, after completing the auction of the first backpacking land lot, Ho Chi Minh City will learn from experience and continue to auction eight other land lots in the period of 2025 - 2026. These plots of land are scattered in Functional Areas No. 1, No. 3 and No. 7.
In Functional Area No. 1, there will be four plots of land to be auctioned, including two plots of land 1-5, 1-6 planned as multi-functional residential areas and two plots of land 1-9, 1-10 with diverse commercial functions.
The functional area No. 3 has a backlog of land including 3-9 and 3-10, with an area of 5,000 m2 and 10,000 m2, respectively, planned to be used as apartments combined with commercial services. In addition, lots 3-8 with an area of over 8,500 m2 are planned to build apartments but do not have commercial service functions.
In particular, the No. 7 Functional Area has a special plot of land, coded 7-1, with an area of nearly 74,400 m2. This plot of land is located on a small island, planned to develop a resort hotel area that meets international standards.
The city plans to auction these plots of land from July 2025 and last until 2026.
Previously, at the end of 2021, Ho Chi Minh City successfully auctioned 4 plots of land in Functional Area No. 3 (code 3-5, 3-8, 3-9, 32) with a record winning price of more than VND37,000 billion.
However, after that, the winning enterprises did not pay the land use fees on time and asked to forfeit their deposits.
