Mr. Nguyen The Vu - Deputy General Director of VSIP Can Tho Joint Stock Company - said that the VSIP Can Tho Industrial Park project is being implemented to level the ground to hand over land to customers soon, but the project is also facing difficulties due to a shortage of sand materials, affecting the filling progress.

Currently, VSIP Can Tho has signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation with 18 potential investors, with a total expected leased industrial land area of up to 100 hectares, accounting for about 1/3 of the total area of phase 1 of the project. However, the signing of an official land lease contract is still delayed due to the failure to complete the procedures for granting a Land Use Rights Certificate according to the new regulations of the Law on Real Estate Business 2023. It is expected that the handover of land to these investors will be carried out in the second quarter of 2025.

To date, the 572m long road connecting National Highway 80 to the industrial park (total investment of more than 172 billion VND) has completed 92% of the volume, expected to be completed on April 30, 2025. Meanwhile, the 1,217m long road connecting from Vam Cong bridge (total investment of nearly 385 billion VND) has only reached 10% of the progress.

According to a report from the Management Board of Can Tho Export Processing and Industrial Zones, the compensation, support and resettlement work for the project has been basically completed with 600 cases being inventoried and the plan approved. Of which, 71 households are eligible to receive residential land, 168 households are considered for land purchase and 361 households are not eligible. The resettlement area has handed over 300 plots of land to people before the Lunar New Year 2025 and is expected to complete the handover of the remaining plots in June 2025.

The resettlement area serving the VSIP Can Tho project with a total investment of 513.9 billion VND, currently reaching 62.2% of the progress. It is expected that the entire resettlement area will be completed synchronously in June 2025.

At the inspection, Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee Do Thanh Binh emphasized the requirement for the VSIP investor to urgently complete the project items according to the design. At the same time, the leaders of the City Party Committee also requested the City People's Committee to direct departments, branches and sectors to actively support investors in early promotion of tasks to attract secondary investors to boldly invest in industrial parks in the coming time. The goal is to create conditions for secondary investors to be able to hold a factory groundbreaking ceremony before April 30, 2025.

The VSIP Can Tho Industrial Park project is located in Vinh Trinh commune (Vinh Thanh district, Can Tho city) with a land use scale of 293.7 hectares (phase 1). This is a key project of the city with a total investment of more than VND 3,717 billion (equivalent to 160 million USD), officially started on September 9, 2023.
