Ho Chi Minh City will relocate 115 households and an organization to widen Tran Binh Trong Street (from Ly Thai To to Hung Vuong) from 5 to 17 m, with a total capital of 1,073 billion VND.

According to the urgent document of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction sent to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on the plan to renovate land plot No. 1 Ly Thai To (Vuon Lai ward), the expansion of this road is necessary to synchronize the traffic infrastructure in the central area.

Currently, surrounding roads such as Hung Vuong and Ly Thai To have been fully invested according to the plan.

Tran Binh Trong Street (from Ly Thai To Street to Hung Vuong Street) is about 370 m long, with an average width of only 5 m, not synchronously connected to Ly Thai To Street, causing limitations in traffic and urban space development.

Therefore, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction proposed to widen this road section to 17 m.

The total estimated investment is about 1,073 billion VND, of which compensation and site clearance costs account for about 830.5 billion VND; construction costs are more than 40.7 billion VND. The project will have to relocate 115 households and 1 organization.

The Department of Construction recommends that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assign this unit to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments and branches to propose an investment plan to expand the route, ensuring compliance with public park space, traffic system and related planning in the area.

The land plot at No. 1 Ly Thai To has an area of about 4.3 hectares, located between three frontages of Ly Thai To - Hung Vuong - Tran Binh Trong streets, opposite Cong Hoa intersection, considered the "golden land" of the city center.

According to the new orientation, the entire land will be adjusted to the 1/2000 planning to build parks, community playgrounds and underground spaces for urban activities.

In particular, in this campus, there will be a COVID-19 victims Memorial, which will be organized with an architectural design competition and call for investment in the form of socialization.

Previously, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc requested consideration of arranging about 4,000 m2 of land at the corner of Tran Binh Trong - Ly Thai To streets to build the headquarters of the Vuon Lai Ward People's Committee.

However, after reviewing, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction and related units agreed to choose another public land location in the ward to build the ward headquarters, expected at the land plot at 376 Dien Bien Phu Street, Vuon Lai Ward.

Inside the land plot No. 1 Ly Thai To, there are 7 villas in the campus, currently vacant. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction proposed that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assign the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Architecture to inventory, evaluate and classify existing villas in the area, as a basis for proposing appropriate conservation plans.
