Building Dong Nai with the characteristics of "airport city
According to the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee, the development orientation of Dong Nai city after establishment will build Dong Nai into a strategic gateway city, a multi-functional growth pole, a center connecting southern economic regions in aviation - high-tech industry - logistics - border trade - high-tech agriculture - innovation with the characteristics of an "airport city" as a strategic lever, connecting globally, developing on par with major airport cities in the region and internationally.

Accordingly, in 2026, Dong Nai will focus on investing in a synchronous and modern connecting transport infrastructure system; building and putting into operation dynamic sub-zones, framework infrastructure and key functions, as a basis for shaping and developing Long Thanh airport urban area.

By 2035, Dong Nai will be a new dynamic city of the nation. By 2045, Dong Nai will become a modern aviation center of the Asia-Pacific region, a knowledge economy center, dynamic development; the human development index (HDI) will reach a high level, modern urban governance, civilized, safe, livable, and happy society. By 2065, Dong Nai will be a globally connected city with high quality of life and happiness in the world, belonging to the group of multi-functional airport cities.
Dong Nai qualifies to become a new growth pole
To achieve the set goals, Dong Nai sets a key task, developing a project to propose to the National Assembly to promulgate a Resolution on specific and outstanding mechanisms and policies to develop Dong Nai. The project attracts a team of experts, scientists, and high-level human resources to live and work in Dong Nai.
Approving the urban planning of Long Thanh airport, Bien Hoa urban area, Trang Bom urban area, Nhon Trach urban area and zoning plans; accelerating the construction of the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway line; urban railway section Suoi Tien - Provincial political and administrative center - Long Thanh International Airport; promoting urban development associated with public transport orientation (TOD).

Deploying the construction and development of Hoa Lu border gate economic zone to become the nucleus in socio-economic development of the northern border area of Dong Nai.

Dong Nai also identified the development of connecting transport infrastructure as a breakthrough, including: Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway, Ring Road 3 and Ring Road 4 of Ho Chi Minh City, expansion of Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway and direct connection routes with Long Thanh airport; combining strategic metro lines including Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Duc - Nhon Trach - Long Thanh route, Bien Hoa - Ho Chi Minh City route, Long Thanh - Vung Tau route, orienting the route connecting Long Thanh with the Mekong Delta region...

Mr. Nguyen Kim Long - Standing Vice Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee - said: With the special advantages of Long Thanh International Airport, along with the system of expressways, beltways, seaports, industrial parks, logistics centers and modern urban areas gradually forming synchronously, Dong Nai has full conditions to become a new growth pole, with strong spillover effects, capable of sharing development pressure with Ho Chi Minh City and expanding the development amplitude for the entire Southern region.
Specific targets of Dong Nai city after establishment:
- In the period 2026 - 2030, GRDP growth averages over 10%/year. By 2030, GRDP scale will reach over 1,200,000 billion VND; GRDP per capita will reach over 250 million VND.
- In the period 2031 - 2035, GRDP growth averages 10% or more, GRDP scale reaches about 2,000,000 billion VND, GRDP per capita reaches 380 million VND, approaching the income level of developed cities in the region.
- In the period 2036 - 2045, GRDP growth averages 10% or more, GRDP scale reaches about 4,800,000 billion VND; GRDP per capita belongs to the high group in the region, reaching at least 760 million VND, completing the net emission target of "0" (Net Zero).
- In the period 2046-2065, GRDP growth averages 8% or more, GRDP scale reaches about 24,000 trillion VND; GRDP per capita reaches 2,700,000 trillion VND.
