Overview
The 2025 EURO Women's Final will see a confrontation between England and Spain, recreating the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup final.
This is only the second time the same pair have played in two consecutive World Cup/EURO finals. Before that, there was the Germany vs Sweden match (EURO 2001, World Cup 2003). In both of those matches, Germany won.
England are the first team to qualify for both the quarter-finals and semi-finals in the same women's EURO despite conceding a goal in both matches. Coach Sarina Wiegman's substitution decisions never seem to be wrong. Wiegman is now the first coach to reach the finals of five consecutive international tournaments.
In England's comeback win over Italy, substitutes Beth Mead, Chelsea Chelsea and Michelle Agyemang contributed each to four direct attacks leading to a shot.
This highlights their role in England's attacks from the bench. These are also different weapons that Wiegman can use.
In fact, the two players who came on as substitutes saved England at the right time. The "Three Lions" have relied on the Savior named Agyemang to bring both of their knockout matches into extra time. The Arsenal striker is the first teenager to score twice at an EURO since Cecilie Pedersen ( Norway) in 2009.
At EURO 2025, Agyemang showed formidable attacking power, averaging 6.1 shots per 90 minutes, double that of Alessia Russo (2.9). Agyemang was also more accurate, with 2.0 shots on target per 90 minutes compared to Russo's 0.6.
It is necessary to clarify that Agyemang has only played a total of 89 minutes in this year's tournament. However, his sharpness in front of goal shows the growing importance of this young player in the England attack.
For Spain, the recent semi-final showed exactly why Aitiana Bonmati is currently the owner of the Golden Ball. This midfielder's contribution helped La Roja qualify for the German national team.
This is the first time Germany has advanced so far in an EURO without reaching the final since 1993, ending a streak of seven consecutive semi-finals and finals.
In fact, Spain's semi-final victory marked their first win against Germany in nine games (3 draws, 5 losses). Before that, La Roja had lost all 4 recent official matches against Germany without scoring any goals.
Moreover, this was the first time Germany did not have a shot on target in the first half of a major match (EURO/World Cup), since the 2015 FIFA World Cup semi-final against the US. Two of their two shots on target in the official match came in the 94th minute.
Spain have now won their last 6 knockout matches in major tournaments (EURO and World Cup). Only one European country has had a longer winning streak in both tournaments. That is Germany, who won 13 consecutive matches between 2001 and 2009.
Score prediction: England 1-2 Spain
The match between England and Spain takes place at 23:00 on July 27 (Vietnam time).
