Recently, the representative of coach Shin Tae-yong shared with the Korean media about the rumor of leading the Chinese team.
"In contrast to the information in the Indonesian media, we have not received any offers or contracts with the Chinese Football Federation," said a representative of Mr. Shin.
"coach Shin is involved in various activities, including the role of Vice President of the Korea Football Federation and the role of Director at Seongnam FC."
However, coach Shin will consider if he receives an offer from the Chinese team.
Previously, Shin Tae-yong was a candidate for the position of China national team leader, replacing Branko Ivankovic who had just been fired.
After China only finished 5th in Group C of the 2026 World Cup Third Qualifiers, the team received a lot of criticism, leading to Ivankovic having to leave the hot seat.
There are a few other names considered for replacement such as Zheng Zhi and Gao Hongbo. Zheng Zhi is the coach of the Chinese U21 team and was once an assistant coach of the national team. Gao Hongbo coached the Chinese team from 2009 to 2011 and 2016.
