Accordingly, in the match between Malaysia and Nepal last March, coach Peter Cklamovski and his team won 2-0 against their opponent. Notably, one of the two goals was scored by Hector Hevel - a player on the list of 7 people confirmed by FIFA to have been naturalized in violation of regulations.
The Neural Football Federation has complained to FIFA about the case of Hector Hevel and if approved, the Neural team could be held to a draw with Malaysia.
Acting President of FAM Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mahadi said that the national association was aware of the complaint from the Nepal Football Federation but affirmed that there was no need to panic, because this issue was similar to what happened in the 4-0 victory over the Vietnamese team.
"The situation is similar to the situation with the Vietnamese team. We do not need to think too much about Nepal's complaint, the important thing now is the outcome of our appeal," Yusoff told Malaysian media on October 16.
" whatever Nepal gives is related to seven players. Therefore, whether we win or lose in the appeal, the impact will be the same for both matches, for Vietnam and Nepal. We have to wait for the verdict, Yusoff added.
Yusoff said that FAM did not take this issue lightly but affirmed that the Federation's focus was still to reverse FIFA's disciplinary decision.
"We do not abandon complaints, but we are focusing all our efforts on appeal. wait for the decision, that is the important thing right now. If we win the appeal, the problem in both matches will be automatically resolved," he said.
FIFA has previously fined FAM for submitting fake documents involving seven naturalized players in the qualifying round. Seven players, including Hevel, Joao figueiredo, Rodrigo Holgado, Imanol Machuca, facundo Garces, Jon Irazabal and Gabriel Palmero, were each fined 2,000 Swiss francs and banned from all football activities for 12 months. FAM was also fined 350,000 Swiss francs.
On October 15, FAM filed an appeal with FIFA. The appeal results are expected to be announced soon and it will decide whether Malaysia's victories over Vietnam and Nepal can be kept unchanged or overturned.
