Goal confirmed that Olympiacos have agreed a price of 11.75 million pounds to complete the Kostas Tsimikas transfer deal to Liverpool. The 24-year-old full-back is one of the most impressive stars in the Greek national championship. Tsimikas has good defensive skills and the ability to support attacks that are not bad with 7 assists last season.
Moving to the reigning Premier League champions, Tsimikas is expected to play a reserve role on the left flank for Andy Robertson. In the 2019-2020 season, Robertson did not face any competition as James Milner's reserve position was occasionally used. Milner himself has a strong taste in midfield and is also 34 years old this year, so he will limit his professional contributions.
In an effort to find a backup option for Andy Robertson, Liverpool also targeted Sergio Reguilon (Real Madrid) and Jamal Lewis ( Norwich). However, Reguilon is playing well at Sevilla so he intends to stay long-term. Meanwhile, Jamal Lewis was "priced" for more than 20 million pounds, so The Kop switched to Tsimikas.
According to Goal, the transfer contract and personal terms between the parties have been negotiated. Tsimikas is expected to take a medical examination early next week, before signing at Anfield.
The arrival of Tsimikas will likely be the end of young talent Yasser Larouci's career at Liverpool. The 19-year-old has made two appearances for the first team in the FA Cup. He is currently receiving many invitations from the First Division and will soon move in.
