The Vietnamese futsal team has secured an early ticket to the semi-finals of the 2024 Southeast Asian Championship after winning all three matches in the group stage. Coach Diego Giustozzi and his team defeated Timor Leste 4-1, Malaysia 2-1 and Brunei 14-0.
Similar to Vietnam, the Thai futsal team also won 3 matches against the above opponents and secured a place in the semi-finals. Therefore, in the final match of the group stage, the two teams faced each other with the nature of competing for the top spot in Group A.
Accordingly, Tu Minh Quang and his teammates must win if they want to top the group. As for the home team Thailand, a draw is enough for them to gain an advantage in advancing.
At present, Thai futsal is dominating the Southeast Asian arena. After 17 tournaments, the team from the Golden Temple has won 16 times, the exception being Indonesia, which won the championship in 2010.
Facing a very strong opponent like Thailand, the Vietnamese futsal team is predicted to face many difficulties. Minh Quang, Doan Phat, Thinh Phat, Duc Hoa... need to take advantage of the opportunity to bring a favorable result for the home team.
