In the 61st minute of the match between U22 Vietnam and U22 Laos in the opening match of Group B of the 33rd SEA Games men's football, Dinh Bac scored to increase the score to 2-1 for U22 Vietnam. However, the linesman then raised the flag of of offside.
According to observations, at that time, Thanh Nhan was the one who created the Bac Dynasty and both were in a valid position. However, when Dinh Bac started to finish, striker Quoc Viet appeared below the Lao U22 defense and jumped up to avoid Dinh Bac's shot. The ball then went into the far corner, sending a net into the Laos U22 net.
Therefore, the linesman raised the flag to report of offside because he thought that Quoc Viet had participated in the ball situation and had a move that affected the viewing angle of the Lao U22 goalkeeper, leading to a goal. However, the referee later consulted with the assistants and recognized this goal as valid.

Talking to Lao Dong, a former FIFA referee shared about this situation and gave explanations of the rules.
First, because the 33rd SEA Games does not apply VAR technology in football, the final decisions belong to the referee, and the teams need to comply with these decisions.
Regarding the goal to increase the score to 2-1 by U22 Vietnam, although the linesman raised the flag of of offside, the main referee will determine whether Quoc Viet's movement and leap forward affected the situation leading to the goal or not. If it does not affect, the goal will be recognized for Dinh Bac.
In this phase, the referee may base on the spirit of the law to say that Quoc Viet's jumping situation did not fall into situations that could determine the fault such as taking an advantage, affecting the phase or having a foul impact... That is the reason why this goal was recognized".
Although the coaching staff of U22 Laos later reacted to the referee's recognition of the goal to increase the score to 2-1 for U22 Vietnam, however, after the explanation of the black shirt king, the match continued to take place. Of course, the goal was valid and the score was 2-1 in favor of U22 Vietnam with a double from Dinh Bac.
