On the afternoon of July 31, the Vietnam U20 women's team had a match with the PVF U13 men's players. Despite their efforts, coach Okiyama Masahiko's students lost 0-5.
After the training trip in Japan, Mr. Okiyama Masahiko continued to adjust personnel to perfect the optimal squad. He highly appreciated his players' progress, especially in their ability to organize both in attack and defense.
The players have improved significantly after the training session. Competition experience, technique and decision-making are improving. We will continue to focus on proactiveness and dynamism in the playing style to best prepare for the upcoming qualifiers, the Japanese coach shared.
According to the plan, the Vietnam U20 women's team will have another friendly match with Thai Nguyen women's club on August 1, before finalizing the list of 23 players officially participating in the qualifying round on August 3.
Talking about the difference between the young generations of Vietnamese women's football, coach Okiyama said that the difference mainly comes from the number of years of experience accumulation.
In Japan, female players often practice with men since they were young, while in Vietnam, they often start later, so the technique is not solid and there is a lack of actual collisions, he said.
The captain of the Vietnam U20 Women's Team also thanked fans for always accompanying women's football: "Every failure is a valuable lesson for the players to mature. Continue to cheer them on their journey to conquer greater goals.
