“ASEAN Cup 2024 will be organized by the Vietnam Football Federation in coordination with Phu Tho province at Viet Tri stadium. VFF will only pay for the minimum costs such as electricity, turf maintenance, training ground fees…”, Mr. Nguyen Dac Thuy - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Tho province shared.
According to Lao Dong, Phu Tho province - the host of the tournament - supports the organization and many other expenses for the matches of the Vietnamese team. This decision alone helps VFF save nearly 1 billion VND. If the match is played at another stadium like My Dinh, VFF will have to spend at least 800 million VND, not including many related expenses.
The support from Phu Tho province is based on the cooperation program between Phu Tho province and the Vietnam Football Federation. Accordingly, Viet Tri Stadium is considered a satellite stadium of VFF in organizing training sessions of national teams and cooperating in organizing regional and international matches.
Phu Tho Province is not only the unit that rents or leases the stadium, they are also responsible for organizing the matches and ensuring the technical facilities, security, medical care, human resources, etc. meet international standards.
“The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Tho as well as the locality have had experience in organizing nearly 50 international matches since 2019. The facilities, competition conditions and related items at Viet Tri Stadium all meet the requirements of the Asian Football Confederation and the Southeast Asian Football Confederation. An interesting statistic is that the teams playing at Viet Tri Stadium have never lost a match,” said Mr. Thuy.
In general, playing in Viet Tri brings many benefits to the Vietnamese team, especially when the stands are always full of fans.
On the contrary, VFF can only arrange a few thousand tickets to meet some of the demand for watching Vietnam team play at this time. Therefore, they cannot generate a large source of income when the total number of seats, VIP and VVIP seats are all less than My Dinh Stadium.
