On the morning of August 8, 2025, in Con Dao Special Zone (Ho Chi Minh City), the working delegation of the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union (VTC) led by Mr. Uong Quang Huy - Vice Chairman of the delegation - worked with the Power Project Management Board 3, the unit assigned by Vietnam Electricity Group to represent the investor of the National Power Grid Supply project for Con Dao.
Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Anh Minh - Deputy Head of the Supplies - Equipment Department, Head of the Supervisory Consultant for Packages No. 5 and 6 at the Con Dao coastal access point - said that up to now, the main items have completed about 95% of the volume, including pulling underground cables from Vinh Chau (Soc Trang) to Con Dao, building the 110kV Con Dao Transformer Station, constructing cable ditches, installing cable bar foundations and installing 110kV GIS station equipment.
Experimental work, transformer adjustment and compensation are being urgently completed, striving to ensure progress according to plan, achieving achievements to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2.
Speaking at the scene, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Uong Quang Huy said that the Con Dao Special Zone is a frontline island, with a particularly important position in protecting the rights and sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland; has many meanings in the cultural history and national revolution.
Along with the socio-economic development of Con Dao Special Zone, the demand for electricity will grow strongly after the merger of administrative boundaries.
The Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also acknowledged the spirit of efforts to overcome difficulties, work urgently and safely of cadres, engineers and workers at the construction site. With the determination of the units, the attention and support of the Trade Union organization believes that the project will reach the finish line according to the emulation movement launched in 2025.
On this occasion, the working group presented gifts and 50 million VND to support 6 units directly constructing the project, encouraging workers to continue to maintain their determination to complete their tasks.
The National Grid Power Supply Project for Con Dao District has a total investment of nearly VND4,923 billion, including an 110kV onshore line, 77.7 km long underwater cable, 8.5 km long underground cable and Con Dao 110kV GIS Transformer Station. The project started in November 2024 and is expected to be completed and energized on August 18, 2025.
