On the occasion of the 58th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Transport Trade Union (November 18, 1966 - November 18, 2024), on November 17, Mr. Pham Hoai Phuong - Chairman of the Vietnam Transport Trade Union said that in recent times, all levels of affiliated trade unions have fully and promptly implemented trade union activities based on the practical situation, focusing on social security policies; taking care of the lives of union members and workers.
According to the leaders of the Vietnam Transport Trade Union, under the direction of Party committees at all levels, close coordination between trade unions at all levels and professional agencies at the same level; the determination and efforts of cadres, civil servants and workers, the Transport sector has achieved many encouraging results in all fields.
In particular, from the beginning of 2024 until now, the progress of public investment disbursement and the progress of implementing key projects and works have been ensured, with some projects exceeding the set schedule; in terms of roads, more than 2,000km of highways have been put into operation; in terms of aviation, the Long Thanh Airport project has many construction items exceeding the plan;
Regarding railways, the Khe Net Pass Railway Renovation Project has started, the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station elevated section has been put into operation in August 2024 and the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien route is expected to be put into operation in December 2024; regarding maritime and inland waterways, the Project to renovate and upgrade maritime channels into ports in the South Nghi Son area has been completed and put into operation; the Cai Mep - Thi Vai waterway upgrade project has been completed...
For trade union organizations, implementing Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW dated June 12, 2021 of the Politburo on innovation of organization and operation of Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation, trade unions at all levels in the industry continue to innovate the content and methods of operation to attract and gather a large number of union members and employees; perform well the representative role of caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and employees.
Accordingly, trade unions at all levels in the industry regularly care for, encourage and look after the lives and jobs of union members and workers on holidays; coordinate with authorities at the same level to well implement the grassroots democracy regulations; 100% of units organize conferences for civil servants, 66% of enterprises organize conferences for workers; well organize activities in response to the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Hygiene and Workers' Month.
Since the beginning of 2024, the Vietnam Transport Trade Union Charity Fund has continued to promote its role as a trusted address for workers in difficult circumstances, such as supporting 6 Trade Union Shelters; visiting and giving gifts to thousands of groups, individuals, and former Youth Volunteers in difficult circumstances with a total support amount of over 3 billion VND; mobilizing employees in the industry to donate more than 8.5 billion VND to support people affected by storm No. 3.
Although the work of developing union members and establishing grassroots unions still faces many difficulties, with the efforts of all levels of unions in the industry, they have developed 1,527 new union members and established 3 grassroots unions. They have successfully organized 3 training courses, equipping nearly 1,000 union officials at all levels with knowledge and working methods.
