Retirement policy for redundant principals after merger
Resolution No. 37/2026/NQ-CP specifically stipulates the regime of preserving position allowances for principals, directors, vice principals, and deputy directors after the merger of educational institutions.
Accordingly, after arrangement, the remaining number of principals, directors, vice-principals, and deputy directors after arrangement, if they wish to resign, will implement the settlement of staff streamlining policies according to Decree No. 154/2025/ND-CP of the Government on staff streamlining.
Principals can retire early:
Decree No. 154/2025/ND-CP stipulates 4 groups of early retirees subject to staff streamlining, including:
1. People who are still 2 years old to 5 years old to retire according to the provisions of Decree No. 135/2020/ND-CP and have enough working time with compulsory social insurance to receive a pension. This group has 15 years or more of working in heavy, hazardous, dangerous or especially heavy, hazardous, dangerous professions and jobs on the prescribed list or has 15 years or more of working in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions, including working time in areas with regional allowances with a coefficient of 0.7 or higher before January 1, 2021. Ministry of Education and Training adjusts the roadmap for regulating university admission methods
The Ministry of Education and Training on the afternoon of September 17 sent universities a new draft circular on amending and supplementing a number of regulations on university admissions and training for comments.
The Ministry expects the new Circular to take effect this year, meaning it will be applied from the 2027 university entrance exam season.
The draft for comments is adjusted compared to the version announced on the Ministry's Information Portal in the early afternoon of September 17.
Specifically, the Ministry of Education and Training still limits the university admission method but according to a roadmap. In 2027, schools are allowed to use a maximum of 5 admission methods, excluding direct admission and group admission. Each major and training program will apply three methods, instead of one as initially drafted.

Lao Cai lacks 1,386 teachers, many highland schools face difficulties
On September 17, the Delegation of National Assembly Deputies of Lao Cai province organized a thematic voter contact conference with managers, teachers, and staff of the Education and Training sector.
According to Director of the Department of Education and Training Luyen Huu Chung, in the 2026-2027 school year, the province has 509 educational institutions with 14,892 groups and classes and 477,552 children, students, and trainees.
The entire sector currently has 30,677 management officials, teachers, and staff, reaching 93.8% of the assigned payroll and 85.8% compared to the quota. Compared to the assigned payroll, the sector is still short of 2,034 people, including 1,386 teachers and 537 employees. See more...
School in Quang Tri invites parents to supervise semi-boarding meals
On September 17, Principal of Dong Thuan Primary School (Dong Thuan ward, Quang Tri province) Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao said that the school has issued an invitation to the Parents' Representative Board of the school and the Parents' Representative Board of grades to participate in the surprise supervision of semi-boarding work.
