Electrical equipment consumes even if not working
According to Michael Bluejay, an energy expert in Austin, Texas (USA), author of the website Saving Electricity, many household appliances still consume electricity even when not on.
"We call it leaked electricity, electricity consumption because the equipment is in waiting mode or pre- Plugged without use. An average family can lose up to 10% of their total electricity for this reason alone, said Bluejay.
The list of devices that are prone to waste electricity includes: Wi-Fi transmitters, ban computers, phone chargers, televisions, disc heads, smart speakers and electric rice cookers. These devices are small in capacity but work continuously, leading to significant wear over time.
Wifi: Always operate 24/7, consuming about 15 - 25W. A month can consume 7 - 10 digits of electricity.
Charging phones, laptops: Even if not connected to the device, the charger still consumes electricity if left in the output.
TVs, disc heads, smart speakers: In waiting mode, still consume 1 - 10W.
Tabletop: Not turned off completely, sleeping mode still consumes electricity.
keep the rice cookers warm for a long time: The heating regimen consumes electricity continuously, easily causing the electricity to spike if it lasts for many hours.
Power outage is wasteful from small actions
To save electricity effectively, Mr. Bluejay recommends:
Pull out the device when not in use.
Use a plug with a switch or smart outlet to proactively turn off the power.
Limit keeping rice warm for too long.
Schedule wifi shutdown at night.
Resume charging when the device is full.
In the context of rising electricity prices and increasing demand for energy saving, controlling quietly consuming equipment is something that cannot be taken lightly. Saving electricity is not only about money but also about environmental responsibility. Each family will reduce a little, the total will be a huge number, said Mr.ej Bluay.
