Born healthy, as normal as any of her peers, at the age of 15, rheumatoid arthritis caused Nguyen Thi Thanh Thanh (born 1983, Ba Vi, Hanoi) to associate her life with a wheelchair.
Appeared in the program “Love Station” with a wheelchair, Thanh Thanh was shy and afraid when he first appeared on television. Only when referring to books in a book name guessing game with the host, Thanh Thanh was more confident and excited.
Thanh Thanh shared that, “Books for me are not only a friend, a teacher but also bring to my life many interesting and meaningful things". And books have helped Thanh Thanh overcome the most difficult days in life.
Talking about childhood, Thanh Thanh is somewhat touched and choked. For many people, age 15 is probably the most beautiful but for young girls, 15 years old is also a time full of sad emotions, anxiety, fear when struggling with rheumatoid arthritis. The whole body, the joints are hot and red, painful, difficult to walk, can not even shovel rice, can not comb or wash toilet.
In the beginning, Thanh Thanh just thought, the pain keeps injecting, drinking medicine, staying in the hospital will heal, so he was lying in the hospital and dragging him to his friends and parents to take him to school. But then the disease grew worse and worse, the school uniform was gradually replaced by the patient's shirt.
“Nearly 10 years in a row, my parents took me everywhere for treatment. Death also came but did not take me, in exchange for my health, shape, hands, legs and freedom” – Thanh Thanh recalled.
“At 25 years old thanks to my computer, through Facebook I knew two friends, one helped me know books, and a special friend for me to understand how to look at myself, how to create self-value” - Thanh Thanh said.
Starting with screenwriting is not easy, but thanks to the spirit of not being invincible, Thanh Thanh has been persistent in learning and developing her writing skills. Her first achievement came in 2019 when her work “Paddy and Beans” won the second prize of the writing competition for childhood, in the category of comic scripts.
Next, Thanh Thanh won the “Three Outstanding Playwright” award in the Be Friend project – Prevention of School Violence organized by Good Neighbors International.
In 2023, she won the special prize of the writing contest “Overcoming Fate” organized by the Youth Magazine in cooperation with the Institute of Journalism and Propaganda. In 2024, with the musical script “Your Dream”, she went on to win the highest prize at the children's composition contest organized by the Youth Theatre and Sangsang Maru Theatre (South Korea).
Thanh Thanh now writes not only books but also screenplays for movies, comics and musicals. In the future, she aims to master English to become a professional screenwriter, creating works that have a positive impact on society.
