A mirror of willpower and patriotism
To celebrate the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2026), on July 15, General Secretary and President To Lam and the Central Working Delegation visited and presented gifts to war invalids and sick soldiers at Thuan Thanh War Invalids Nursing Center (Bac Ninh province), according to VNA.
Accompanying him were Politburo members: Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Committee Nguyen Duy Ngoc; General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security.
Moved to return to visit Thuan Thanh War Invalids Nursing Center, General Secretary and President To Lam expressed that the battle on the front lines has receded, but the battle with injuries, illnesses and old age still lasts day by day, even hour by hour. The wounded and sick soldiers still maintain the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers; living simply, sincerely, overcoming illnesses, being role models of willpower and patriotism for their children and grandchildren, for the young generation to follow.

On this occasion, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, the General Secretary and President respectfully sent to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, families of martyrs and all people with meritorious services to the revolution throughout the country their deep gratitude for their great contributions and losses to the independence and freedom of the Fatherland and today's peaceful life.
The General Secretary and President clearly stated that the anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day is not only an occasion to commemorate and express gratitude but also a time to review the implementation of policies for people with meritorious services.
Along with caring for and implementing policies for relatives of martyrs, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, veterans, those who contributed to the cause of national liberation, national reunification, protection of independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, protection of peace and development of the country..., the Party, State and society are making efforts to search, repatriate, and identify the names of martyrs who have remained in the hearts of the motherland of Vietnam and soldiers performing noble international duties.
Fully and promptly resolve policies for people with meritorious services and their families
General Secretary and President emphasized that the strength of a country is not only measured by economy, defense or international position, but also in the way of cherishing the past, caring for those who have contributed and maintaining full affection for those who have sacrificed. The more the country develops, the better the people with meritorious services and their families must be cared for. That is the political responsibility, national morality and a measure of the humanity of the regime.
The General Secretary and President requested that the Ministry of Home Affairs and localities continue to review and fully and promptly resolve policies for people with meritorious services and their families; not to let people with meritorious services have to wait and travel many times; not to let the right policies be delayed due to procedures, lack of coordination, evasion of responsibility or lack of dedication; to pay practical attention to families and children of wounded soldiers and sick soldiers, helping families stabilize their lives, and their children and grandchildren grow up, start businesses and continue their ancestors' traditions.
Regarding Thuan Thanh War Invalids Nursing Center, the General Secretary and President requested the Ministry of Home Affairs to preside over and coordinate with the Ministry of Health, Bac Ninh province and relevant agencies to review the organizational model, facilities, human resources, and quality of care; identify this as a special facility, which needs to be invested in long-term care, geriatrics, rehabilitation and palliative care; prioritize housing, hospitals, emergency rooms, rehabilitation equipment and access conditions for wheelchair users.
Each wounded and sick soldier needs to have a health record to be continuously monitored, with appropriate care plans for injuries, underlying diseases and age. The Center must coordinate smoothly with upper-level hospitals for specialized examinations, consultations, emergency care and timely transfers; absolutely do not allow administrative procedures to slow down treatment; pay special attention to the team directly caring for; human resource norms, training, attraction, remuneration and working conditions must be appropriate to the specific nature.
The General Secretary and President hoped that the wounded and sick soldiers would continue to maintain their health, maintain an optimistic spirit; continue to be a spiritual support, a bright example for their children and future generations.
