First time organized on a national scale
On the morning of November 13, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Huynh Thanh Xuan; Permanent Deputy Governor of the State Bank, Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Chairman of the Vietnam Banking Trade Union Dao Minh Tu... attended and encouraged the teams on the opening day.
The contest is a prominent activity of the Vietnam Banking Trade Union to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2024) and major national holidays.
It is known that the "Green Bank for Green Life" Contest is a large professional competition, organized for the first time in the whole industry to spread the image of the sustainable development of the banking industry, pioneering the strong implementation of activities for the community in general, towards building a sustainable green future in particular. Combining professional expertise and cultural activities, movements in the whole industry, therefore, the Contest is both professional and professional in nature but also has the nature of exchanging and sharing experiences between union members and workers in the banking industry.
This is also a playground for the teams to shine their talents, increase awareness and understanding of officials, civil servants, public employees and workers about the role of green banking in promoting sustainable development and environmental protection. At the same time, it arouses pride and motivates officials, civil servants and employees in the banking industry to enhance their sense of responsibility and make efforts to contribute to the sustainable development of Vietnamese banks and the country.
The Vietnam Banking Trade Union entrusted the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development (BIDV) Trade Union - a unit with rich professional experience and organizing competitions and movements related to the green banking sector - to organize the contest.
The contest brings together 22 teams with 440 contestants from banks and units across the industry, who will participate in 3 rounds: Team introduction, Learning about green banking knowledge and Debate.
Innovation in union activities
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the contest, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, Chairman of the Vietnam Banking Trade Union Dao Minh Tu said that in order to continue raising awareness and social responsibility of the banking system in protecting the environment and responding to climate change. In particular, by making professional content the theme of the Trade Union organization's activities, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Banking Trade Union organized the "Green Bank for Green Life" contest.
“This is not only an innovation in union activities but also an opportunity for all officers and employees in the industry to raise awareness and share knowledge about green credit and green banking - important trends in sustainable development. Through that, each officer and union member will be more aware of their role and responsibility in contributing to building a safe and stable development environment,” Mr. Dao Minh Tu emphasized.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Hai Tung - Team Leader of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) - said that Vietcombank's Trade Union chose Vietcombank's Headquarters Trade Union as the focal unit to deploy the convocation of the competition team. The focal unit spent a lot of time training and selecting talented cadres in the entire system, those who have a deep understanding of the Party's policies and guidelines, the State's legal policies and the Government's national strategy on green growth and sustainable development; at the same time, they are typical cadres in culture and arts and have outstanding eloquence to participate in the competition.
“In my opinion, the competition will be an opportunity for teams to demonstrate their understanding, share experiences and knowledge in the fields of green economy, green banking and digital transformation, making practical contributions to building a green and sustainable Vietnam; as well as creating a practical and meaningful common playground, contributing to strengthening the activities of the banking industry's trade union,” said Mr. Nguyen Hai Tung.
The special prize of the contest is worth 100 million VND; First prize - 70,000,000 VND; Second prize - 50 million VND; Third prize - 30 million VND and a Certificate of Merit from the Governor of the State Bank and the Award Cup... The contest takes place on November 13-14, in Hanoi.
