In the period of 2020 - 2025, Ho Chi Minh City trade unions at all levels have promoted the cultural - sports movement, considering this one of the key tasks to improve the spiritual life of employees.
The forms of organization are increasingly diverse such as mass art festivals, law-learning competitions, grassroots sports competitions such as football, volleyball, badminton, tug of war, and workers' sports festivals. Many competitions are organized in competition clusters or by industry, attracting tens of thousands of employees to participate. Typical examples include the "Workers' Singing Festival" in Ho Chi Minh City with thousands of contestants participating, the Binh Duong Workers' Volleyball Tournament, or the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Labor Union Sports Festival.
As a result, every year, hundreds of art and sports competitions are held with the participation of a large number of union members. Over the past 5 years, it is estimated that over 500,000 employees have directly participated in cultural and sports activities organized or jointly organized by the union.
In addition, the trade union also proactively coordinates with the government and enterprises to build grassroots cultural institutions, workers' cultural houses, sports playgrounds, and trade union libraries, gradually meeting the increasing demand for cultural enjoyment of workers.
The cultural and sports movement has created a healthy environment, contributing to reducing labor pressure, strengthening collective cohesion, and building a rich spiritual life for employees.
Thereby, the movement not only improves health and physical fitness but also affirms the role of trade unions in comprehensively caring for union members, associated with the goal of improving the welfare and benefits of union members and workers.
