Small gift, great meaning
In the lives of many worker families, especially in industrial parks, export processing zones, remote and isolated areas, taking care of children's education is always a concern. Parents' income is still limited, working hours are long, living conditions are still poor, not every family has the ability to let their children learn more foreign languages, access modern learning equipment or have an environment to practice skills from an early age.
7,000 sets of English reading and learning markers are not simply material gifts. It is also concern for learning opportunities, for the comprehensive development of children, especially young children in workers' families who are still facing many difficulties.
English reading and learning markers are digital technology application devices, helping children from 5-10 years old to learn English at home, learn anytime, anywhere in a "learning while playing, playing while learning" way. One set of devices can be used for many children in the family, so the value of the gift is not only in the number of 7,000 sets given, but also in the ability to spread in each worker's family.
For many young children, this may be the first time they have access to a modern foreign language learning tool. For many parents, this is timely support for their children to have more learning conditions that families may not be able to equip themselves with. For the Trade Union organization, this is a way of caring in depth, not only providing immediate support but also towards the long-term future of workers.
Caring for workers' children is caring from the root
The Trade Union organization has long been known for its role in representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers. But caring for workers does not only stop at salaries, meals, housing, welfare or working conditions. For many workers, what they are most worried about is not only whether they can live today, but also whether their children will have the opportunity to study, grow up and rise up tomorrow.
In reality, when workers' lives are still difficult, the cost of children's education is a significant burden. Foreign languages, digital skills, and life skills are increasingly becoming important luggage for children, but not every child has equal access. The income gap can lead to educational gaps, and without timely support, poor workers' children are easily disadvantaged from the early years of life.
Therefore, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour allocating resources to donate English learning equipment to union members and workers' children is a way to take care from the root. Taking care from the root means not only helping workers overcome immediate difficulties, but also contributing to creating conditions for future generations to have better opportunities to develop than their parents. A child who learns foreign languages earlier, is more confident, and accesses technology earlier will have more luggage to step into the future.
This is also a continuation of the humane spirit in the activities of the Trade Union: caring for workers is caring for their whole families; protecting workers is protecting the foundation of happiness and stability of each worker's home.
Towards equal opportunity for children
A noteworthy point is that the program prioritizes children of union members and workers working in industrial parks, export processing zones, remote and isolated areas, and areas with difficult socio-economic conditions; paying special attention to children in special circumstances, orphaned children due to labor accidents, serious illnesses, natural disasters, and epidemics.
This priority clearly shows the spirit of social justice. Because in caring for children, the important thing is not only to give gifts, but to give them to the most needed places, to the most vulnerable groups. A set of English notebooks for a well-off family may just be a normal schooling item, but for a difficult worker's family, it may be a precious gift, a great joy, and an encouragement for their children to continue studying.
Action Month for Children should therefore not only be understood as a month of organizing fun and giving gifts. This is also an opportunity to review the responsibilities of families, schools, businesses, trade union organizations and the whole society in protecting, caring for, and educating children. Especially for children of workers, children living in cramped boarding houses, lacking playgrounds, lacking learning space, lacking conditions to access quality educational services, the support of the Trade Union is even more meaningful.
Encouraging units to build "Learning Corners for Children", "Trade Union Bookshelves", "Children's Living Spaces in Workers' Boarding Houses" also shows the right approach: caring for children needs long-term space, not just one-time activities. If each worker's boarding house has a learning corner, each grassroots trade union has a bookshelf, each locality has more safe playgrounds, children will have a better environment to develop.
The donation of 7,000 sets of English reading and learning markers also shows that the Trade Union organization is expanding the content of care. Care is not only support when union members are sick or in difficulty; not just giving Tet gifts or organizing short-term welfare. Care is also working with workers to prepare the future for their children, helping them feel secure in working, attached to businesses and trust in their representative organization.
This activity also contributes to promoting the social responsibility of businesses and trade union levels. Caring for workers' children cannot be just a matter for workers' families. Businesses wanting workers to be attached also need to pay attention to the living and learning conditions of their children. Local authorities wanting to develop industrial parks sustainably need to consider kindergartens, schools, playgrounds, and cultural institutions. Trade unions wanting comprehensive care must continue to connect those resources.
From a gift of learning to faith in the future
7,000 sets of English reading and learning markers may not solve all the difficulties of workers' children. But the program sends a very clear message: workers' children, people in difficult circumstances deserve to access knowledge, technology and better learning opportunities.
In each set of pens given, there is the concern of the Trade Union organization, there is the desire of parents, there is the opportunity for children to learn and there are also expectations for a future generation that is more confident, better, and more integrated.
Caring for children today is caring for the quality of human resources tomorrow. Caring for workers is also caring for the stability of workers' families, for the sustainable development of businesses and for the future of the country. Therefore, the greatest meaning of the 7,000 sets of reading markers lies not only in material value, but in the fact that they open up more doors to learning, new hopes and the belief that no child should be left behind on the journey to knowledge.
