Data cited in Vieclam24h's "2nd Quarter Labor Market Report/2025" shows that the opportunities for young people to enter the labor market are narrowing.
Although more than half of the surveyed businesses said they plan to expand their staff in the next 6 months, only 23.4% of them plan to recruit interns or new graduates. This rate is the lowest among all levels of human resources prioritized by businesses.
Meanwhile, the group of formal/performing employees is prioritized by 74.7% of enterprises, specialists/medium-level/supervisors are 45.6%, and management and senior management are 18.9% and 4.5%, respectively.
The above data reflects a noteworthy reality, the opportunity to enter the labor market is narrowing for young workers, especially new graduates or students without practical experience.
The report also shows that young workers are not among the priority groups to retain after the cut. The proportion of newcomers in the fired group was 19.8%, while only 12% of them were retained. For the 18-24 age group, the retention rate is also lower after personnel streamlining.
Nearly 85% of businesses said they have difficulty recruiting personnel at the formal/executed staff level, and 66% in the specialist group. This reflects the shortage of candidates with appropriate skills and experience. Meanwhile, businesses are still cautious about expanding their teams, especially for those without experience.
