Focus on developing union members, establishing new grassroots unions
In 2024, with the determination of trade unions at all levels in the province, Ba Ria - Vung Tau has newly established 104 grassroots trade unions (CDCS), reaching 130% of the annual target; developing 16,777 new union members (in reality, only 9,123/12,400 union members according to the assigned target). The whole province has a total of 1,652 grassroots unions with a total of 154,883 union members.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Van - Head of the Organization and Inspection Department of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Federation of Labor, although trade unions at all levels have made efforts to develop union members and establish grassroots unions, the results have not yet met expectations. The reason is that labor in some enterprises is unstable, enterprises have not paid attention to establishing trade unions, young workers do not clearly recognize the benefits of participating and the capacity of trade union officials in some places is still limited, causing the movement to not really attract.
With the theme of 2025 being "Focusing on developing union members", the Provincial Federation of Labor aims to admit over 20,000 union members, reaching 95% of union members out of the total number of workers and 95% of enterprises with 25 or more workers with trade unions.
Through active implementation, in the first quarter of 2025, the locality has newly established 16 grassroots unions with 834 union members, bringing the total number of grassroots unions in the province to more than 1,668 units with nearly 156,000 union members.
Currently, trade unions across the province are focusing on efforts and high determination to complete the assigned tasks. In the immediate future, the provincial Labor Federation has requested to continue to strengthen working with units and businesses to review and mobilize the establishment of new grassroots grassroots levels when they are eligible for simultaneous conditions, focusing on renewing the contents and modes of trade union activities; strengthen training and fostering skills and experience for officials and union members to do propaganda and advocacy; Proactively propose and propose to local authorities, specialized agencies and businesses to effectively implement social security programs for union members and workers.
Develop to better care for and protect workers
Along with focusing on developing union members and establishing new grassroots unions across the province, the Ba Ria - Vung Tau trade union focuses resources to implement activities to care for and protect union members and workers. Because these activities contribute to making workers confident in participating and sticking with the Trade Union organization.
"Caring for and protecting union members and developing union members, establishing grassroots unions are key and very important tasks that the Ba Ria - Vung Tau trade union is striving to implement," said Mr. Le Van Hoa - Chairman of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Federation of Labor.
According to Mr. Hoa, doing well the work will help workers trust and participate in trade unions. When participating, in addition to the interests of the Trade Union, it also contributes to help the Trade Union develop strongly. And the more trade union organization develops, the better the conditions to implement the activities to take care of union members and workers.
At the same time, through the establishment and promotion of the role of trade unions at the grassroots level, it will help listen to the legitimate voices, thoughts and aspirations of workers. Contributing to spreading meaningful movements and activities of trade unions in caring for people; becoming a bridge to build harmonious labor relations in enterprises.
Mr. Pham Trung Dong - Chairman of the Trade Union of Export Processing Enterprises of reason Vietnam said that the Ba Ria - Vung Tau branch, with its mission, always strives to best perform its role and tasks. Recently, the unit has organized a dialogue at the workplace, through which many recommendations from workers have been agreed to be implemented, or accepted for consideration and resolution.
