Storm No. 10 washes up the roofs, workers swallow tears and stand up

Quang Tri - Raising 3 young children alone when her husband was away and lost the roof after storm No. 10, Ms. Trang still struggled to rebuild her life.

An empty house after the storm

In a makeshift house, seeing the corrugated iron roof that was quickly rearranged after storm No. 10, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Trang, Vinh Phu village, Nam Gianh commune, Quang Tri, is still shocked.

"Only one night the wind was strong, the corrugated iron roof of my house was swept away, and my belongings were submerged in rain. That scene haunted me forever" - Ms. Trang choked up.

Her husband works far away, and she runs the family alone. The storm that hit made the already difficult life even more exhausting. She said that she could only lure her children to neighborhood to beg for help, and was heartbroken.

The night the storm passed, she returned to her damaged and messy house. There is no more valuable property, clothes and books of the children are thin. But she did not allow herself to fall.

" crying cannot solve anything, I told myself to be strong to be a support for my children. I lost my roof, but there are still people, and if I have the strength, I can rebuild it, Ms. Trang was determined.

In the first days after the storm, Ms. Trang struggled to cope. Understanding the situation, the Trade Union of Quang Binh Irrigation Construction Consulting Company visited and encouraged them.

Receiving a small gift from the union, Ms. Trang emotionally said that everyone's feelings are a great source of encouragement. She herself feels not alone, there are still many people around her.

Strive for the children

Returning to life after the storm, Ms. Trang still goes to the company every day, taking advantage of the time to go home to repair it. "Every time I am tired, I have to push myself, as long as my children's studies are not interrupted. I don't want them to leave their children uneducated" - she confided.

Despite the difficulties, Ms. Trang still has hope, hoping to have a more solid roof, so that her children no longer have to worry and worry every time it rains. She believes that she just needs to try, and she will overcome it.

Ms. Le Thi Ha, Chairwoman of the company's Trade Union, shared: "We support a small part of the cost, but the most important thing is to give Ms. Trang confidence. She is a hard-working, determined worker, so she will definitely overcome this difficulty".

For Ms. Trang, her house was damaged but she still struggled to take care of her young father, that is an image that made us feel very sorry.

The trade union cannot completely change the fate of workers after a storm, but can be a spiritual support and timely support to help them see that they are not abandoned. Sometimes just the right words of encouragement can help them get up stronger.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Tai Minh - Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial Federation of Labor, emphasized that natural disasters always leave the heaviest burden on poor workers.

The Provincial Federation of Labor identifies the role of trade unions not only to take care of life under normal conditions but also to stand side by side when union members are in trouble. After storm No. 10, the Provincial Federation of Labor directed trade unions at all levels to urgently compile statistics, not leaving any workers who suffered losses.

"Each case like Ms. Trang needs support at the right time and place, so that they can quickly stabilize their lives and return to work and production. That is the responsibility, and also the affection that the trade union organization has for its union members" - Mr. Minh affirmed.
