Need for more cultural institutions in areas with a large number of workers
According to records, cultural institutions serving workers in Binh Duong are still limited. There are also enterprises that invest in cultural and spiritual living spaces for workers, but not much.
Mr. Luu The Thuan - Head of the Propaganda and Women's Union of Binh Duong Provincial Federation of Labor - said that in the province, there are nearly 500 enterprises with arranged areas and spaces for union members and workers to participate in regular sports training. Playgrounds organized by enterprises such as football fields, volleyball courts, badminton courts, table tennis, indoor or outdoor exercise equipment...
Currently, in Binh Duong, there are 2 cultural institutions serving workers, the Binh Duong Provincial Labor Culture Center in An Phu Ward, Thuan An City and another center in My Phuoc Ward, Ben Cat City. The centers operate effectively but can only meet about 30,000-40,000 workers in the surrounding area. Other localities with a large number of workers still lack cultural institutions such as Di An city and Tan Uyen city.
In addition, the operations of the centers have not yet fully exploited their functions to serve workers due to barriers related to legal regulations on the use of public assets and the number of operating staff of the center. For parks that create sports living space, they have not yet met the needs of workers.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Duong province said that the province is speeding up the construction of cultural and historical works to serve as a place to nurture patriotism, and is also a weekend destination for workers in particular and people in the province in general. Notably, in 100% of communes, districts, towns and cities, land funds will be planned to build institutions such as: squares, green parks, community learning places...
Localities with a large concentration of workers such as Ben Cat, Tan Uyen and Bau Bang towns will arrange additional land to build the Workers' Cultural Center.
Mr. Vo Van Minh - Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee - said that the province will continue to allocate land funds to build social housing and build cultural institutions in industrial parks, clusters, residential areas, and urban areas.
Need for more affordable housing and playgrounds for workers
Binh Duong is currently ranked 2nd in the country in attracting FDI capital with over 4,300 valid projects, with a total registered investment capital of more than 42.4 billion USD. Economic growth and FDI attraction have created job opportunities to attract workers to Binh Duong. However, workers focusing on Binh Duong also increases the pressure on the process of building houses and cultural institutions.
The number of workers in Binh Duong is about 1.3 million people, most of whom are workers from other provinces, many of whom do not have housing. The whole family of 3-4 people lives in a small rented room. Many boarding houses do not have space to create sports playgrounds for workers. This has greatly affected the material and spiritual life of workers.
Recently, many workers in Binh Duong have had to return home because they could not buy a house to stabilize their lives, and businesses also had difficulty recruiting workers.
According to Mr. Bui Minh Ha - Chairman of the Trade Union of Poong In Vina Co., Ltd., the State needs to build more social housing projects in Tan Uyen and create conditions for workers to access loans to buy houses. When workers have stable housing, they will gradually improve their quality of life and stay attached to the enterprise as well as Binh Duong.
